ABOUT LOULOU

LOULOU is an independent couture house based in Bucharest, founded in 2012 by Andra Turcanu.

Built around a made-to-order philosophy, the brand creates garments with intention, emotion, and a deep respect for the woman who will wear them.

Each LOULOU piece is created individually inside our Bucharest atelier, where a small team of master tailors, seamstresses, and artisans cut, sew, embellish, and finish every garment by hand. We do not hold unnecessary stock. We believe in creating consciously, producing each piece only when it is truly desired.

This slower rhythm is not a limitation. It is the essence of the house.

Since its beginning, LOULOU has been built independently, without shortcuts and without compromise. Following the legacy of Romania’s great fashion houses and figures, from Casa de Modă Venus to Doina Levintza and other remarkable names of Romanian fashion, LOULOU emerged as part of a new generation of independent couture houses. From its early years, the atelier brought together master tailors, seamstresses trained in traditional fashion houses, painters, artists, and graduates from different disciplines of UNArte, creating a space where couture technique, artistic instinct, and contemporary femininity could meet.

Long before made-to-order fashion became a familiar language in the region, the house began shaping its own world: sourcing rare materials, developing artisan techniques, opening space for photographers, stylists, makers, young designers, and collaborators, and helping raise the standard for what an independent Romanian fashion atelier could become.

LOULOU explores a visual language that moves between structure and softness, precision and spontaneity. Clean silhouettes are often contrasted with hand-applied crystals, sculptural details, unexpected textures, and couture-inspired finishes.

LOULOU pieces are created for women seeking something distinctive: garments with presence, emotion, and a recognisable point of view. Over time, some LOULOU designs have grown from a single atelier sample into pieces requested by hundreds of clients worldwide. For an independent couture house, this is not a story of mass production, but of desire: certain garments carrying enough emotion, identity, and presence to travel far beyond the atelier.

Rather than following seasonal cycles in a traditional sense, LOULOU develops collections as evolving narratives, shaped by intuition, material, memory, and form.

We believe craftsmanship begins with care. The women and artisans who bring LOULOU pieces to life work in conditions built on respect, stability, and fair compensation.

For us, luxury is not only what the client sees. It is also how the piece is made, and how the people behind it are treated.

Behind LOULOU is not only a collection of garments, but years of responsibility, care, and human work. The house was built by choosing the difficult path: legal, transparent, independent, and deeply respectful of the people who create.

For Andra Turcanu, building LOULOU has never meant creating garments alone. It has meant building an atelier culture, supporting artisans, developing suppliers, opening opportunities for collaborators, and carrying the responsibility of a house through every season, every challenge, and every piece.

Over the years, LOULOU designs have been worn by international celebrities, artists, and some of the most influential K-pop stars, and have appeared in publications including Vogue, Elle, and Marie Claire. Our pieces have also been sold through respected luxury retailers and marketplaces such as Farfetch, TSUM, and selected boutiques worldwide.

Today, LOULOU serves clients across more than 36 countries, while remaining deeply connected to its origin: a Bucharest atelier where fashion is still personal, emotional, and made by human hands.

The relationship between the piece and the woman wearing it remains essential. A LOULOU garment is not simply worn. It is experienced, remembered, and kept.

LOULOU is couture with a modern rhythm. Romantic, precise, expressive, and made to be remembered.

ABOUT LOULOU

Founded in 2012, Loulou was conceived as a house where fashion is made with intention. In our atelier, each piece begins as a sketch and is brought to life only when a woman chooses it — never before. No excess. No stockrooms. Only garments made to order, shaped by the hands of skilled artisans, each seam carrying the precision of couture. Over more than a decade, we have crossed seasons, markets, and continents, guided by a singular vision: to create for women who see clothing not as trend, but as an extension of their own story. From the first fitting to the final stitch, Loulou remains a promise — personal, exacting, and quietly radical in its refusal to compromise.

THE LOULOU WAY

At Loulou, time is part of the design. Every garment is created from the ground up — sketched, cut, sewn, and finished entirely by hand for the woman who has chosen it. This process cannot be hurried without losing the very qualities that make it ours. We do not work in seasons of excess, but in rhythms of craftsmanship, where each order is a singular project in our atelier. It may mean waiting a little longer to receive your piece, but what arrives is not simply clothing — it is the result of hours of skilled work, fine detailing, and the quiet devotion of the hands that made it. For us, true luxury is not only in the fabric or the fit, but in knowing that what you wear was created for you, and you alone.
